Health benefits of FRESH JUICE

For over five years now, I have been regularly enjoying fresh fruit and vegetable juices and I must say that the benefits for my overall health and vitality are impressing!

In our fast-paced society we often sacrifice health for what is easiest and quickest often failing to meet the recommended daily allowances for a multitude of vitamins and minerals. Take potassium for example, it is a very important mineral necessary for the heart, kidneys and other organs to function properly, and helps regulate blood pressure.

The best way to address these deficiencies is to include a variety of fresh organic fruits and vegetables in your diet as well as JUICING.
When you drink juice, highly concentrated vitamins, minerals and enzymes rapidly enter the bloodstream absorbing all of the nutritional benefits of the fruits and vegetables.

Why juicing ?
When you process the fruits and vegetables through a juicer, the juicer extracts all the fluids and nutrients from the solids.
Fresh juices are quickly digested and assimilated by the body.
Fresh juice is digested in a matter of minutes, with very little effort giving the digestive system a well deserved break. This means once you consume your fresh juice, the vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals (plant chemical compounds, like resveratrol, a natural cancer killer) and antioxidants are immediately available to your cells and tissues.

When to juice ?
It is best to drink the juices as soon as they are pressed preferably on an empty stomach (30 minutes before your main meals).
And remember, FRESH juice not only contains greater nutritional value, it contains LIFE! Fresh pressed juice is like drinking a natural vitamin filled with living enzymes, essential minerals, antioxidants which are vital for optimal health. Bottled juices are pasteurised which means they are heated and processed which can destroy vitamins and minerals.

Here are some more benefits of juicing:

❊ Easy assimilation
❊ Extremely hydrating
❊ Promotes alkalinity
❊ Cleans and detoxifies
❊ Promotes clarity of mind
❊ Blast of antioxidants
❊ Consistent natural energy
❊ Healthy hair, nails and clear skin
❊ Preventative medicine (anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory…)
❊ Better sleep

With all these benefit I highly recommend you start including this wonderful habit in your daily routine and if you don’t have one already, get yourself a juicer!

Benefits of kale

I discovered kale when I was living in Brighton.

Brighton is a small British town just by the sea, rich in diversity and surprises.

It is there that I discovered “raw living foods” and my first raw chocolate bars !  Yes , yes RAW CHOCOLATE : healthy, delicious and good for you! (I feel that this will be the subject of an article in the near future… )

But if you don’t mind, let’s go back to our amazing kale!
For starters, it belongs to the cabbage family and has very curly, big and thick green leaves.

It is low in calorie, high in fiber and has zero fat.

Kale is high in iron which is essential for good health, such as the formation of hemoglobin and enzymes, transporting oxygen to various parts of the body, cell growth, proper liver function and more.

Kale is high in Vitamin K. which can help protect against various cancers. Vitamin K is also necessary for a wide variety of bodily functions including normal bone health and the prevention of blood clotting. Also increased levels of vitamin K can help people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.

Kale is filled with powerful antioxidants such as carotenoids and flavonoids.

Kale is a great anti-inflammatory food. One cup of kale is filled with 10% of the RDA of omega-3 fatty acids, which help, fight against arthritis, asthma and autoimmune disorders.

Kale is great for cardiovascular support and can help lower cholesterol levels.

Kale is high in Vitamin A great for your vision and your skin.

Kale is high in Vitamin C very helpful for your immune system, your metabolism and your hydration.

Kale is high in calcium which aids in preventing bone loss, preventing osteoporosis and maintaining a healthy metabolism.

Kale is a great detox food because it is filled with fiber and sulfur, both great for detoxifying your body and keeping your liver healthy.

To make the most of all of the health benefits of kale, I recommend you eat it raw like in green smoothie, raw soups, salads and green juice.

Here is a nice juice recipe:

– 1 handful of kale leaves

– 1 small piece of fresh ginger

– a few fresh mint leaves

– half of a pineapple

Rinse the kale leaves; peel and chop the pineapple and put all the ingredients in the juicer.

Enjoy!
